Our Amazing Panel
Alison Mathews
Alison is a composer with a long career in piano teaching. She established her studio over 30 years ago whilst studying at the Royal College Music and began writing and arranging music for her pupils.
Alison has gained a reputation for writing imaginative pedagogical music that often explores the sonority of the piano. She has a wide portfolio of published music including collaborations with fellow composer, Barbara Arens. Alison is currently working with composer Lindsey Berwin and together they will launch a new UK wide young composers festival.
Pam Wedgwood
Pam studied French horn, Cello, Piano and Composition at Trinity College of Music London. She went on to work as a professional horn player. In 1988 Faber Music published her highly acclaimed series Jazzin' About series. This was followed by the Up-Grade! Series, the adult piano method It's Never Too Late to Play Piano ,After Hours, Piano Basics and How to Play Jazz Piano.
Pam has written orchestral works for National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain and is recognised around the world as one the UK's most prolific and successful composers of popular repertoire for young pianists and instrumentalists.
Ruth Alberici
Before teaching piano, Ruth spent 17 years as a management accountant. In 2015 she started retraining as a piano teacher. After completing her piano teacher training (CertPTC & CME) she built up a busy teaching studio in London. Over the period, Ruth created many of her own resources for lessons and saw an opportunity to create an innovative music resource platform where music teachers could share and sell their resources. She co-founded My Music Resource with fellow music teacher Gwen Harborne which was launched in October 2020.
